My Idols
A Salute to MM Lee Kuan Yew – A Great Man of High Integrity, Foresight, Vision and Perserverance
I came across this video uploaded by Jasmine Tan. This is exactly what I wanted to create but don’t have the capibility yet. Thanks, Jasmine.
Yes, MM Lee Kuan Yew and his team of loyal, honest and dedicated men made us so happening and so proud to be called SINGAPOREANS, so envy by people all over the world to the extent of jealousy.羡慕已了! 妒嫉已了!
Henry Kiong’s email footnote comes with this sentence:
After your thirst has been quenched, DON’T forget the source, YES, definitely a very good reminder.

Our Young and Gutsy Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew:
Some of his interesting sparring:
.. the world is not so simple, it’s not black and white.
.. the Americans have a friendly habit to trying to help a person to think for himself
.. forward looking, independent, determined and most important sincere and honest
.. I can’t speak as a Chinese, I am a Singaporean
.. at the end of the day, I think decision has got to be made by adults and not teenagers ..
.. I don’t see it as my duty as an elected Prime Minister of Singapore ..I am not in receipt of your aid nor am I here to seek aid. I doing alright and I hope to do more trade with you and I don’t think it’s the duty of the elected representative leader of Singapore to go and get involve his country in a situation which can end disastrously for its whole people
… you tell me what happen to all your allies who had got in with you in South Vietnam.
.. I think my survival is not threaten yet…

Charlie Munger praises Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew (Speech at U Michigan, 2010
WE LOVE YOU, MM Lee.
We LOVE Singapore!
Without my idols, there is no Singapore, a little red spot, a garden city, a vibrant city and a safe place called home, a home so many people out there envy and almost want to trash us to death.
My late grandma who was a hakka too, used to comment in hakka whenever Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed some new laws or bills.
You have to read in hakka, haha:
lik gay lo Lee, siu torn took lak, bu go hei wui ging min chok shiang.
Translated in Mandain: 这个老李,手段毒辣但是,是为人民着想
Translated in English: This Old Lee, his passing of certain laws or bills might affect the living of some people, but on the whole is for the benefits of the citizens.
Imagine an illiterate grandma could understand what the then PM Lee Kuan Yew’s good intention and calling the then young Mr Lee Kuan Yew as Old Lee, meant that she had great respect and admiration for him.

I am in the mist of updating. Goh Keng Swee, no problem. As long as they are the ‘old horse’ who made Singapore prosperous and safe to live, they are my idols.
